Dear brothers and sisters of the promised land,

The week has been nuts, so I'm gonna jump right to it so we can all take advantage of this beautiful Monday.

CAMBIO

So this week we got a call from the APs and they told us there was gonna be an ET (emergency transfer) because there were some difficulties somewhere else. So I got a new comp! His name is Elder Decima. He's from Argentina, a little shy but he absolutely rips guitar and he's clean so we're chill, we're buddies. With me getting this new comp we're basically doing a whitewash (which means all new missionaries) here in Carapegua so it's been a little tough getting to know the area and such because we're both new here. But trust, we got big things cookin…

Friday we went back to Asuncion for zone conference and like usual it was a spiritual feast. Many great thoughts and testimonios were shared. It was beautiful. President addressed us about the topic of love and having love for what we have and what's around us. And when we show love for what's around us, that is where intense joy is found. For example, showing love for your companion, the Work, yourself. That night we spent the night with some of the elders and my “mission pops” (the guy who trained me) Elder Radcliffe was there! We made wings and we all chopped it up. It was so unreal. Top 3 night on the mission ever.

TEMPLO/ST

That next morning I was richly blessed with the opportunity to visit the temple. In my mission, the only time the missionaries got to go to the temple is right before they go home, but due to some of the special recent changes Elder Pickett was in the right place at the right time and was blessed with the opportunity to visit. The best way to describe the indescribable experience I had inside is I felt like I went home (celestially speaking). It was unreal. Something I felt as well, and would like to remind all of you, is that God KNOWS you in a way so intricate it is unimaginable. I always would hear that, but as of recently, I developed a deeper sense of what that really means. He not only knows perfectly our strengths and weaknesses, but He knows better than we do what we need and when we need it. He sends certain events in our life, varying in time length, and event size. And with these come blessings and experience. These events are intricately and intensely catered to our personal celestial needs. So, brothers and sisters who are reading this email today and are in a rough spot, I urge you to remember that the Lord sent this your way, not because He hates you or wants to punish you, but because He knows this fire of affliction and trial will REFINE you if you allow it. So brothers and sisters, let us all remember that our hardships, challenging events, and “fires of affliction” are sent from the Lord to refine us. HE TRUSTS US, HE KNOWS WE CAN. And He loves you for it.

Mi gente, deepest apologies for the miss last week, but wipe those tears because we are BACK. COCIDO INCIDENT The other day we were at this family's house, playing some cards and whatnot. Their 12-year-old son brought over this pot of PIPING hot cocido (it's a hot drink here) that he had forgotten on the stove. Cuanto Lo Deseas?

"Two weeks in a row is crazy," they said. Well, now we're back with a little two-week streak because this week was crazy, and life is good in the CDE. Let’s hop into this calm update. ZONE CONFERENCE & DIVISIONS Monday night, the APs came out and stayed with us for a couple of days. I love them both so much. I got to go out with Elder Valerdi, who is one of my best friends in the mission and was also the first guy I ever did divisions with. He put on an absolute clinic on how to be a missionary, as always. Love that guy. I'll be so sad to see him go soon. Wednesday, we had Zone Conference, and all the missionaries from Zones 8 and 9 came out to CDE. It was enriching, as always. Lovell and I gave a presentation and had everyone shoulder-deep in those spiritual bags. THE WORK/BAPTISM CELEBRATION That same evening, we had a wedding, and five of our friends got baptized. Brothers and sisters, hoping this email finds you all in a blessed state. Let's jump right into this past week's events. KING OF CTOWN Recently, we've been working with our guy Jorge, an older member who recently reactivated himself, and now he's all in. A stud. This week, he walked around with us to teach and visit people, and this dude knows EVERYONE. He was chatting with literally everyone like, “Oh, we used to play soccer back in the day,” or “Oh, he's buddies with my brother.” This guy knows everybody. Every other house we walked by was his cousin's place or something. My companion was like, "How many cousins does this guy have?" The best part is that when we were contacting and visiting people, everyone recognized him and let us in. Jorge is our secret weapon, the king of C-town.
