Que Churro
Fam, friends, super chill week here and we all know the drill at this point so let's get to it.
Divisiones
Ran a little double division with my guy Elder Gundersen. We had a day in our area, and then we had a day in his. Both days we went crazy, absolutely slamming both areas with the Spirit and unrefusable baptismal invites. There's a member there named Marcos, and he's a recent convert. He came around and did all our lessons with us. He's an animal, with an absolute weapon of testimony. It was a pleasure working with him. Also, almost all the people in Caaguazu we were teaching only spoke Guaraní, which was quite the humbling experience. Luckily, Marcos was there to translate too. We finished the day off with some crazy acai and called it a night. What a life.
FAM
With it being Father's Day and all, I got to call my Dad. He was with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, the whole gang. So I got to chop it up with the whole fam and wish my sweet cousin Kara off on her mission because it was her farewell (Salta ain't ready, Kara). It was so good to see what's up with the Pickett fam, and I definitely took those family gatherings for granted. So if you're around your family, let them know you love them and whatnot.
LA OBRA
Big stuff is still going down here. Our guy Juancito made it into the baptismal font and made his first covenant with the Big Man on Saturday. Love that kid; it's been so great to see him change and grow as he begins to accept and apply the gospel. Down here, we're entering the last two weeks of the transfer, so it's like we started the fourth quarter of the game. Big two weeks incoming. Today, we had a meeting with the Branch and got them all fired up to help us baptize the eight or so more people we have lined up to baptize these next two weeks. Elder Woodward and I are calling these next two weeks “Las semanas de milagros.” Now the branch is all fired up for these next two weeks.
ST
Just wanna shout out all the wonderful fathers reading this email right now. You guys are killing it. Can we all give them a little round of applause real quick… okay okay, that's enough, settle down. No but Dads, we love you guys though. I would like to acknowledge one very special father out there today, THE James “Jimmy” Russell Pickett. I have an overwhelming sense of gratitude for him and all the things he's done for me and continues to do for me. A certain conference talk comes to mind when I think about my Dad. The talk is from D. Todd Christofferson and is called “Let Us Be Men.” It talks about how real men and real fathers are always making sacrifices for their family. The wellbeing of their family is constantly on the front of their mind. Ladies and gentlemen, this is my Dad. I aspire to always not only look over and protect my family but also see that they prosper and thrive the way my Dad does. I love you, Dad.
That's all from Oviedo this week.
