Legacy Transfer
Fam y friends, estoy de vuelta to let you know what's been going down. So sorry to have left you hanging last week, but the truth is, as I become a better missionary and get deeper into the mission, the more socially awkward I become, and it gets harder for me to write such good emails, so bear with me here. Hahahahah, I'm playin… maybe… Let's get straight into how Oviedo & EP have been moving as of recent.
ZONA 8
We had transfers a couple of weeks ago, so a bunch of the zone changed. Had to say goodbye to many legends and intense competitive P-Day soccer. This also included my dear companion Elder Radcliffe. I'm gonna miss that kid; we did good work together here in the Big O. This past week, the branch president pulled us into his office to thank us for our work. We said we had turned the joint around, boosted attendance, and boosted the energy of the ward. It was just great. Now I probably got one more transfer in this area. That's got me out here feelin' like it's game 7; we're in the finals. Big O Legacy transfer incoming—stay posted.
NEW COMP, WHO DIS
Got a new comp the other week! Elder Woodward from Texas. Love him already. This guy has more energy than anyone I've ever met in my life. Bro has more energy than (brace yourself for an obscure movie reference incoming) that squirrel from Over the Hedge. I love it, love the energy; we're gonna ball out this transfer. We're already cookin'. We have big, big things in the works, so stay posted and stay prayin' for the Big O.
GRINGAS
Crazy story from the other day. The other day, we had a little lunch at McDonald's with the Villarica elders. As we were eating, we heard some English, some fluent English, like no accent, nothing, and so we were bugging, right? So my comp goes up to this big family and starts to talk to them, and two of the girls in the family are from Texas! And their mom was from Oviedo, so they were visiting. So we chopped it up with them and with their whole family, and they were all super sick. Then the family who lives here invited us over for dinner the next night! So we went over, chopped it up with them, and had some dinner. It was so dope to talk to all the family about Paraguay, and with the gringas, a little English, and be filled in on what's goin' down in the land of the free.
BODA
We finally got our dear friends Eduardo and Soledad married. After weeks of scheming and trying to find a way to do the wedding, we finally got it to go down. Because Eduardo doesn't have a single form of identification other than an Argentinian birth certificate, this made it very difficult to marry them. But after prayers and fasting, we were able to see them get married and Eduardo baptized. It was beautiful. What a night. So good to see the branch come together and chop it up as well. I love the Big O, I love this work, I love God.
OBRA
Elder Woodward and I are going hard; we are deep in our bags. And things are finally all coming together. These past two weeks, we've had three baptisms and a wedding. And these next couple of weeks, we have seven more baptisms and another wedding. Huge. Huge stuff going down. The branch my first week here, we had about 15 people in church; yesterday we had SEVENTY-FIVE. The Big O has never seen anything like this before. I cannot tell you how good it feels to see all this hard work come together. The members are happy, and now we have this joint poppin'. Keep praying that we can stay baptizing every week of the transfer.
ST
I was listening to a talk this past week called "The Power of Your Words" by Craig Manning. And how the way we talk to ourselves means EVERYTHING. I love what he said when he said, “Once self-doubt takes hold of an individual, action is halted. I believe doubt to be one of, if not the greatest of, the adversary’s tools. It is the antithesis of faith.” So, brothers and sisters, this week and forever, I invite you to cast out your self-doubt. Don't tell yourself you can't do anything or you won't do it. Work hard, let faith kill the doubt, let it take over and trust that the Big Man has your back and always wants to see you succeed and accomplish your goals. Heed the words of a 13-year-old Justin Bieber and just “Never say Never” #I'maBeliber.
That's all
