Scrappin
Fam, friends. Don't get too stoked but I'm back thunderous applause. Okay… okay… that's enough. I'm gonna need you to quiet down so I can get to the email. Thank you… Let's get to it.
Divisiones
This week was super calm. We ran back divisions with the elders from Caaguazu. I was with Elder Valerdi from México and he's a machine. I love him. We did good work as always, pulled up to the noche de rama and played some soccer with some of the jóvenes. Valerdi and I were straight ministering to these brothers, not only teaching them the gospel, but how to ball also. What a night. Ended it all with the best lomitos in Oviedo on the corner. Life doesn't get much better.
The OBRA
We are going hard. Elder Raddie and I got a couple more weeks of this transfer. Right now we're in a full-court press on Satan if you know what I mean, and it's getting pretty scrappy. This week ended with the baptism of our guy Marcos! Seeing his process and getting to know him has been an amazing experience. He's just a good kid, and he's come such a long way since we first met him a while back. Over these last couple of weeks, he's been like a little brother to me. I had a very tender experience with him this past Friday. As we were preparing and talking over the baptism and stuff, he was just a bundle of nerves, he’s kinda a nervous fella. So I calmed him down a little, and then told him I was proud of him. He then goes “huh?”. And I said “I'm proud of you Marcos”. He then started to cry. He said he hasn't heard someone say that to him in a long time. This experience deeply touched my heart. I have developed a deep sense of gratitude for this work and the incomprehensible blessing I get to be involved with it. What a blessing, what a life.
We have a couple more baptisms lined up these next couple weeks which is HUGE for this area. So please pray for Oviedo, that all will go super smooth this next little bit.
ST
So this past Sunday was Mother's Day right. I'd like to start off by shouting out the Mother figures and amazing women in my life who are such great examples to me. My Grandma Carol, Grandma Linda, Grandma Kathy, my second Mother “T-boss” Tracy Pickett. And of course, the One and Only, Mom of the year reigning champ MOLLY PICKETT. She truly hasn't lost a Mom of the Year award since 2005, the greatest mom to ever mom. So on this topic of Mothers, I listened to this talk by Elder Holland about mothers called “Behold Thy Mother”. And you know Holland did what he always does and dropped heat left and right, that man is a poet. He said “no love in mortality comes closer to approximating the pure love of Jesus Christ than the selfless love a devoted mother has for her child.” I love this. As I've grown, the love and appreciation for my mom is incomprehensible. The role her and her love plays for me in my life is irreplaceable. Love you, Mom.
That's all from your guy.
