Ballin
Fam, friends, another week down here; all is straight calm. Loving life. Let's get to it.
Yo, I know you're wondering
Had a crazy experience this week. One of the guys we're working with right now, his name's Raul. So about a month ago, Raul just kinda dipped outta here, like 3 days before his baptism to Buenos Aires, Argentina, super unfortunate, right? Anyway, he's been down there for a sec and he's been meeting with missionaries there now, which is super cool. And he's going to get baptized down there. So he sent us the WhatsApp number of the elders in Buenos Aires he's been working with so we could coordinate a little and confound upon them our knowledge of this legend Raul. Anyway, we hit their line, and one of the Elders is in my ward! Shout out to Elder Dixon. So now we're in contact with these elders, as they're actively trying to steal our baptism… haha, I'm playing. But, I'm now doing some missionary work with a kid from my home ward. How wild.
Noche de Rama
This week, Elder Raddie and I swung by the Noche de Rama (ward night) to see what's up with our guys, chop it up with the branch members and whatnot. Before we knew it, we were in a heated little soccer match, straight battling it out. Anyway, Elder Raddie and I were playing with our guy Hermano Uran. And I don't know much about soccer, but think of the best soccer trio ever, like the Bron/Wade/Bosh trio but for soccer, and yeah, that was us. We were straight ballin' on these kids. One of the highlights of the week, no doubt. And all of our buddies planning on baptism had a good time. So I guess you can say the Noche de Rama was a hit.
3rd time's the charm
This past week, we had a baptism of this little girl from this less active family in our ward, her name is Yenifer. And she is straight terrified of the water; at first, she didn't want to get baptized because of that. But eventually, she got over the fear and she's baptism-bound. She asked me to baptize her because I told her if anything went wrong in the 3 feet of water that's in the font, I was a good swimmer, so it'd all be under control. So we had to try 3 separate times because every time her foot kept poking out. By the third time, she's crying and decides she'd had enough of the cold water so she just dips, and refused to get back in the water (can't blame her). After, there was talk that Elder Pickett was “too tall” to baptize her in that shallow water, and they wanted to reschedule the baptism to try again. But the witnesses held a little counsel, a little replay if you will. And they came to the decision that the call on the field was overturned, and we had ourselves a baptism. Apparently, she was all the way under the first time. Nobody tell Yenifer that the last 2 dunks were just for fun.
ST
I've been listening to conference talks/ BYU speeches every morning during breakfast. There's a talk called “Flashes of light” by Steven J Lund, and this brother Steven went crazy. This talk is one of the best I've ever heard so I'm just gonna drop a little snippet and then go check it out on BYU speeches. “None of these things are coincidences. They are consequences of a string of unpredictable heavenly interventions that have burst through the veil as flashes of light through what has at times felt like a drab, never-ending gray wall.” So good, go listen.
That's all from your boy
