Fire Me Up

Fam and friends, I hope your week was blessed. Lot going on over here right now, so I'll try to whip up a little recap and tell you what's going down.

Shakira has fallen.
Last Saturday, I was playing soccer and I did that thing Ronaldo did where he jumped like 5 feet off the ground for a header, and I kinda did a backflip on the way down. I don't know, for just a second, I might have become Ronaldo himself. Unfortunately, there were no cameras rolling. Jk jk, I just twisted my ankle. Luckily, it's not super bad, but I was limping around for a day or 2, but I'm cool now. Pray that Shakira will take the field again.

Prank
Just a little funny story for you guys. There's an elder in my district that the teachers always confuse us with each other. Anyway, we swapped tags and our teacher didn't notice for like 20 whole minutes. We had the whole district in on it, and when she did notice, we nearly succeeded in gaslighting her that I had been Elder Weeks and Elder Weeks had been Elder Pickett the whole time. Poor Hermana Chavez thought she was losing it for a sec. Anyway, it was so funny, and if you're reading this right now, Hermana Chavez, we're sorry.

Fire me up
Hence the title of the email, I'm fired up. So is the whole district because we just got our travel info and we fly out tomorrow. Lot of nerves among some members of the district, and it is a little sad to leave, however it's mostly exciting. The next email I send, ladies and gentlemen, will be from the promised land of Paraguay. So catch you all on the flip.

Spiritual
This week we listened to a couple of devotionals from apostles, and they're always incredible, thought-provoking, and spiritually fulfilling. Anyway, I took a little thought from these and the first part came from a devo from an older talk by Boyd K Packer. Sadly, I don't remember the talk, but he said something along the lines of, “God doesn't see us as these imperfect, unworthy beings, he sees us as the celestial perfected beings we are capable of becoming.” This hit deep. Then later that day, I watched a talk from President Nelson in April of 1997 called “Endure and be lifted up”. Incredible talk, in this, our at the time future prophet quoted a poet who said, “For of all sad words of tongue or pen, The saddest are these: “It might have been”. This struck me deep. When we fold or give in to the hardship or temptations of this life, we sacrifice the most important thing we have, our eternal potential and capacity. We sacrifice the opportunity to be the person we didn't even know we could become. So, brothers and sisters, go forth and seize your eternal potential.

Also, the birthday is on Saturday, so if you're a real one, hit an elder's line and let me know what's up with you.

Catch you guys on the flip.

As always, go peep Google Photos; you won't be disappointed.

Get after it this week, folks.

Con amor...

Elder Pickett
